Jesus opposed the religious system.
He made it known that He was here to rescue people from sin. Remember how He rescued the woman who was caught in the act of adultery? He did the same for the poor, the diseased, the drunkards, the tax collectors, the prostitutes, and thieves. Jesus not only saved us from the penalty of sin right in the midst of our sin, but He stands between those who have the self righteous spirit under the law (theology, doctrine, denomination, religion, religious rules) , with stones in hand and those (sinners) they want to throw them at. He defended the unworthy. He makes friends with the ones that good religious folks wouldn’t dare to even talk to. He unconditionally accepts the socially unaccepted. He gives life to the sinful dead. He had no regard for His reputation among the religious leaders. He was despised by the leaders of the religious system of his day because he refused to follow along and play the religious game. He refused to judge and shun people for their bad behavior. He would not judge and condemn people for their sin. He refused to fit the religious mold. He refused to judge sinners. He actually loved the unlovable. He actually loved those who were filthy, dirty, non Jewish (non religious gentiles). Jesus was the greatest lover of all time because he lived from His heart that was connected to God. He lived from His union with His father. He spoke what He was told by God and He did what the father told Him to do. He lived completely dependent on His oneness with God while He was here on earth. He didn’t rely on Jewish scripture, temple worship, religious ceremonies, and He didn't care what his reputation was amongst the self righteous religious people. Let’s Forget about our reputation amongst the self-righteous, religious people and simply live from our brand new heart of love. Let’s Live from our new divine nature that comes from our eternal connection to God. Let’s Live from our marriage union with Christ. Let’s Speak what we hear from God in our spirit and do what the father tells us from our new heart of love. Jesus has joined Himself to us in an intimate marriage union so He can inspire us from within and express Himself and the spirit of God through us to love others just like He does. He has joined Himself to us so that by Grace through His faith We have been recreated, reborn, and made just exactly like Him. Now we can be who we were truly created to be, alive in Christ, eternal life and light, divine, radical, lovers of other people. ~ JimBob Custer
