Even though the OT Law was called “the ministration of death” (2 Corinthians 3:7), the Law itself was not death. The Law simply drew out what was already there so that we could see how sinful we were and realize that we needed a savior. The deceitfulness of sin evaporates in the presence of the Law, and sin becomes exceedingly sinful.
That is why the OT Law is not the law written on our hearts. That would keep us sin-conscious, feeling guilty and in bondage to our performance. “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” ~ (Hebrews 10:16) When we are born again, and the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us, God gives us a new heart, a new spirit, and the mind of Christ. We are new creations, with a clean slate. What are those laws put on our heart? There are five New Covenant laws – all five are part of one law, ‘the perfect law of liberty’. All five laws bring freedom, blessing, grace and all five laws impart power, supernatural ability, grace and His anointing. The word ‘law’ means that these five things are written into the New Covenant as laws that ‘command’ blessing in your life - starting with the perfect law of liberty, let’s look at these five amazing laws! THE LAW OF LIBERTY “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does”. (James 1:25) THE LAW OF LIBERTY TELLS US TO FOLLOW FREEDOM AND TO AVOID CONTROL AND BONDAGE… As we look into the perfect law of liberty according to the New Covenant Word of God, and as we continue in it, we will be blessed in all that we do! As we follow the law of liberty, it is identified by the freedom and liberty that it brings – as you get revelation upon revelation in the New Covenant law of liberty, all bondage goes and freedom and excitement arises. This is a LAW that commands that you are blessed, free, and walking in total liberty! That you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers! “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage” (Galatians 5:1) “Let me be clear, the Anointed One has set us free—not partially, but completely and wonderfully free! We must always cherish this truth and stubbornly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past”. (Galatians 5:1 (TPT) “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty”. (2 Corinthians 3:17) Anything that produces bondage is legalism, the law of liberty is established in the finished work of Christ and is inhabited by the Spirit of the Lord! THE LAW OF FAITH “Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law”. (Romans 3:27-28) THE LAW OF FAITH IS RELYING ON GOD INSTEAD OF RELYING ON OUR WORKS That is how the law of faith operates – you get God’s Word and His plan of action by seeking Him – then you implement it by faith – then you fully rely and trust him. THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE “For the “law” of the Spirit of life flowing through the anointing of Jesus has liberated us from the “law” of sin and death”. (Romans 8:2) THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE IS FOLLOWING THE LEADING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT BY FAITH… When we read Romans 8:1-14 it lays out the law of the Spirit of life in detail – it is a law, set into motion by the Father that when we as New Covenant believers follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, that we will find life, health, supernatural ability, victory, abundance and blessing! Now, when it comes to being led by the Spirit, there is a right way, there’s a wrong way, and then there is God’s way! He leads through the Word, His gentle promptings, His peace and His joy. It is not hard to be led by the Spirit, it is supernaturally natural! THE LAW OF RIGHTEOUSNESS “But Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone”. (Romans 9:31-32) THE LAW OF RIGHTEOUSNESS SAYS THAT YOU ARE MADE RIGHTEOUS BY FAITH “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”. (2 Corinthians 5:21) Trusting in the finished work of Jesus, and then being led by the Spirit in all that you do while knowing that you are the righteousness of God in Christ pleases the Father! THE LAW OF CHRIST ‘Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ’. (Galatians 6:2) THE LAW OF CHRIST IS TO BEAR ONE ANOTHER’S BURDENS In other words, to help one another in practical ways, to care for one another, to lift up one another, to love one another and to pray and intercede for one another – “When you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me”.
